But We Had Hoped… | Sermon | Easter 6 | Luke 24:13-35 | 5.22.22

Two disciples are on the road grieving. Jesus shows up, listens to their dashed hopes, and points them to the good news. Then breaks bread and sends them to share that good news.

There is so much we had hoped for that we are carrying in grief. Jesus joins us as we walk, listens, asks us to share more, and reminds us of God’s good news. Then we taste and see that God is good as Jesus is revealed in the breaking of bread.

Now we, too, go and join those whose grief weighs heavy on the road and be the body of Christ walking with them, listening, pointing towards a lasting hope, and sharing food for body and spirit.
