Seeds of Hope Campaign

Seeds of Hope Campaign

We know that God has plans for God’s beloved to give us hope (Jeremiah 29:11), and that as disciples we plant, water, and cultivate seeds but God gives the growth (1 Corinthians 3:6). Together over the next three years, we at Spirit in the Hills are sowing seeds of hope that will provide our congregation and community members with an opportunity to rest in the shade of trees that have yet to sprout. Join us in sowing seeds of hope for future generations to have a community and place to connect with God, neighbor, and nature at Spirit in the Hills.

What is the Seeds of Hope Campaign?

The Seeds of Hope Campaign is an effort of our congregaiton to plan and fund major upgrades and development of our property and prepare us for our next stage of ministry.

Spirit in the Hills has provided hope, healing, faith formation, and service in the Spicewood/Lakeway/Bee Cave area and beyond since 2008. In 2019 we achieved our audacious goal of purchasing a worship center of our own. In spite of the global pandemic, we moved into it over the summer of 2020. The sign over our door reads, “All Are Welcome,” and we strive to live out that radical statement. Part of doing so depends on making improvements that are both required and important to make our facilities available to all people. Thus, the need for another campaign to finance some critical infrastructure issues.

Why do we need to raise money?

The generosity of the members and friends of Spirit in the Hills helped us fund the purchase of our property and necessary updates to the buildings on site. After two years working with Travis County for permits, it is time for developing our site with safe and inviting roadways, accessible parking, appropriate water retention, landscaping, and a welcoming entryway and signage in order to show to our community that we are committed to ministry here in Lake Travis for years to come, to steward well the gift of property that we call home, and to provide a campus and community with ample opportunity to connect with God, neighbor, and nature.

What is our goal and how do we get there?

While we need at least $225,000 to complete our necessary site upgrades to roadways, parking, and retention to insure our property is safe and accessible, we have set for ourselves the goal of raising $350,000 over three years.

To reach this goal we know we will need everyone connected to our congregation to give as they are able. If each household gave $162 per month for the three years of the campaign we would reach our goal. But giving equally doesn’t mean all of us giving the same amount, but all of us giving what we can. We know this will most likely mean some large gifts of $25,000-$50,000 over the campaign as well as smaller gifts of $5-10 dollars per week which add up to help us reach our goal by September 2025.

How can I support the Seeds of Hope Campaign?

Your support for this campaign begins and continues with your prayers – please pray for God to guide us in this effort, to open our hearts and minds to receive and share the blessings God has given us, and to give us what we need to plant these seeds of hope.

On October 2nd during worship, we will invite members of our congregation to prayerfully offer financial commitments for the campaign.

There are many ways to make a contribution to the campaign from donating stock or other non-cash assets, paying from a required minimum distribution from a retirement account (for those older than 70 and a half), and more. You can reach out to our Treasurer, John Maniscalco for more information on donations of this nature.

Commitment Sunday Report

On Commitment Sunday, October 2, 2022 we gathered for worship and prayerfully offered our commitments tot he Seeds of Hope Campaign. We received 31 pledges totaling $280,300 – 80% of our $350,000 goal. And so many heard the call to help give now so that we can continue with our construction efforts as we received $90,000 in gifts to the campaign on Commitment Sunday alone. Thanks be to God for you and for your generosity. We continue to plant seeds of hope trusting God will give growth.
