Continuing in the Word

Continuing in the Word

November 3, 2022

“Lord, keep us steadfast in your word,” we sang out on Reformation Sunday, praying that God would hold us fast in God’s Word so that we might follow Jesus’ words to those who believe in him, continuing in God’s Word and coming to know the truth and experience freedom.

What does it look like to continue steadfast in God’s Word?
It means reading and studying and discussing scripture.
It means using our liturgy and hymnody which help us worship and proclaim God’s word together.
It looks like hearing God’s Word proclaimed and letting that proclamation show us where we have fallen short of God’s will, be turned back to God, and empowered by God’s grace and love.

When we remember that Jesus is God’s eternal Word made flesh and come to dwell among us, then continuing in God’s Word also means deepening and strengthening our relationship with Jesus through worship and prayer and getting to know more members of the body of Christ.

Continuing in God’s Word is continuing life in Christ.
And as we continue in Christ we hear and grow in understanding of the truth of Christ living among us and bringing us to abundant life by grace and we are set free from sin, death, the devil, and all evil and set free to love God with all we have and all we are and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

Grace & Peace,
Pastor Drew
