Epiphany

Epiphany

January 6, 2022

A blessed new year to you on this day where we celebrate the visit of the magi to the Christ child.

These wise ones dared to follow the signs revealed to them – the glory of the star, the messages of prophecy from scriptures they were not so well versed in, the king of kings and lord of lords present in an infant.

The words of our Christmas Eve Service of Lights Liturgy (printed in full below) are ringing in my ears today. Epiphany is about the glory of God revealed and shown and the courageous trust and bold generosity inspired by an encounter with Christ.

We have seen God’s glory in the words of scripture, in the glow of candles, in the new life springing forth from the dirt after last year’s freeze, in the faces of those we love, and in the faces of those we think of least. You have seen God’s glory.

So the question of Epiphany for you and for me is:
What have I learned from my experiences of God’s glory last year? What am I learning from what I have seen, heard, felt of God’s glory today?

and a second is like it:
How will I respond with courageous trust and bold generosity to the glory of God revealed in Christ this year?

Grace & Peace,
Pastor Drew
