The parable of the man with two sons (prodigal son) centers not so much on the “dissolute living” of the younger son as it does on the compassion of the father. How is God cultivating that same kind of compassion in us? Love that does not stand far off, hold onto vengeance for a past wrong, or cut someone off from their true identity as a beloved child but instead runs to meet us on the road, celebrates our return, and assures us that we are always with that love and all that is love’s is ours. Let’s cultivate compassion for ourselves and our neighbor this week as we are filled with the love of God and centered in our belovedness once again.SHOW LESS
